AM-322 EMOTIONAL ENVELOPE (35)

We finally come to the last group of entities that inhabit the Emotional World. These artificial entities form the most significant class and are much more critical to humanity. They consist of an enormous partially-formed mass of semi-intelligent entities, differing among themselves as much as human thoughts differ and are, therefore, practically incapable of being defined in a detailed classification and arrangement. Being entirely humanity’s own creation, they are related to us by close karmic bonds, and their action upon us is direct and incessant. So, let’s start with:-

1. Elementals formed Unconsciously. — A previous presentation has already described how these “desire” – and “thought” forms are called into being. The desires and thoughts of a person seize upon the plastic elemental essences that make up the entire matrix of the Emotional World and instantly mould them into a living being of appropriate form. The form is in no way under the control of its creator but lives out a life of its own, the length of which is proportional to the intensity of the thought which created it and which may be anything from a few minutes to many days.

2. Elementals formed Consciously.—Elementals formed consciously by those acting deliberately and knowing precisely what they are doing may be enormously more powerful than those formed unconsciously. Occultists of white and dark schools frequently use artificial elementals in their work, and few tasks are beyond the powers of such creatures when scientifically prepared and directed with knowledge and skill. One who knows how to do so can maintain a connection with their elemental and guide it so that it will act practically as though endowed with the full intelligence of its creator. It is unnecessary to repeat the descriptions of this elemental class, which have already been given.

3. Human Artificials.—This is a very peculiar class, containing few individuals but possessing an importance quite out of proportion to its numbers, owing to its intimate connection with the Spiritualist movement. To explain its genesis, it is necessary to go back to ancient Atlantis. Among the lodges for occult study preliminary to Initiation, formed by Adepts of the Good Law, one of them still observes the same old-world ritual today. It also teaches the same Atlantean tongue as a sacred and hidden language as in the days of Atlantis. The teachers in this lodge do not stand at the Adept level (45-Selves), and the lodge is not directly a part of the Brotherhood of the Himalayas. However, some of the Himalayan Adepts were connected with it in former incarnations. If you are unfamiliar with the Himalayan Brotherhood, search them out in the annuls of the Theosophical Society. There, you will find chapters and verses about them.

About the middle of the nineteenth Century, the chiefs of this lodge, in despair at the rampant materialism of Europe and America, determined to combat it by novel methods and to offer opportunities by which any reasonable person could acquire proof of a life separated from the physical body. The movement thus initiated grew into the vast fabric of modern Spiritualism, numbering its adherents by millions. Whatever other results may have followed, it is unquestionable that through Spiritualism, vast numbers of people have acquired a belief in, at any rate, some kind of future life. This is a magnificent achievement, though some think that it has been attained at too great a cost. Today, this movement is dying. Spiritualist churches still follow a familiar “Protestant” form of worship. The defining feature during the service is that a medium gets up at one point and calls out to people in the audience to let them know that their loved ones are alive and well in the “Spirit World” and send them flowers. While some mediums are genuinely good and are clairvoyant to a high degree, most are deluding themselves of their abilities and misleading the audience into the bargain. However, the congregation feels comfort, so what harm has been done? How different is this from a priest getting up and spouting a load of nonsense about “being saved” and the fiery pits of hell?

Separate from this, a practice much more prevalent in the early 20th Century was holding private seances. Again, many charlatans prepared to beguile the naive participants of such gatherings. However, sometimes genuine mediums were present who were capable of conjuring up all sorts of phenomena, which at times seemed miraculous and at other times terrifying.

Let us get back to the processes triggered by the intentions of these groups of sitters and what they set up. The term “sitters” is how they were known. The method adopted was to take some ordinary person after death, arouse them thoroughly upon the emotional plane, instruct them to a certain extent in the powers and possibilities belonging to them and then put them in charge of a spiritualist circle. This roused individual,  in their turn, “developed” other departed personalities along the same lines. They all, collectively, acted upon those who sat at their séances and “developed” them as mediums. The movement’s leaders no doubt occasionally manifested themselves in emotional form at the circles, but in most cases, they merely directed and guided as they considered necessary. There is little doubt that the movement increased so much that it soon got beyond their control; for many of the later developments, they can be held only indirectly responsible.

The intensification of the emotional life of the “controls” in charge of circles distinctly delayed their natural progress. Although it was thought that full compensation for such loss would result from the good karma of leading others to truth, it was soon found that it was impossible to use a “spirit guide” for any length of time without doing that human monad severe and permanent injury. In some cases, such “guides” were withdrawn, and others were substituted for them. In others, however, it was considered undesirable to make such a change. Then, a remarkable practice was expediently adopted, giving rise to the curious class of creatures called “artificial humans”.

The higher principles, and by principles, we mean the mental and lower causal envelopes of the original “guide”, were allowed to pass on to their long-delayed evolution into the Mental World. As you will see in the next series of presentations, once the average monad enters the Mental World, it loses complete contact with the Emotional and Physical worlds. Still, the shade they left behind was taken possession of, sustained and operated upon so that it might appear to the circle practically just as before. At first, this was done by lodge members. Still, eventually, it was decided that the departed person who would have been appointed to succeed the late “spirit guide” should still do so but take possession of the latter’s shade or shell and, in fact, wear the appearance of the previous owner. This is what is termed an “artificial human” entity. Take note that the term “lodge” is used here to refer to the group of initiates who set up this whole communication system in the first place. In some cases, more than one change seems to have been made without arousing suspicion, but, on the other hand, some investigators of Spiritualism have observed that after a considerable period, differences suddenly appeared in the manner and disposition of a “spirit”.

None of the members of the Himalayan Brotherhood has ever undertaken the formation of an artificial entity of this sort. Apart from the deception involved, a weak point in the arrangement is that others besides the original lodge may adopt the plan, and there is nothing to prevent black magicians from supplying communicating spirits, as they have been known to do. For this reason, I fall about laughing when someone tells me that at their “circle”, they have been in touch with the “Intergalactic Council” in the left spiral arm of the Andromeda galaxy.

If anything has been learnt about the construction of our solar system and the star systems and galaxies beyond, it is that they operate over 48 planes of matter. Note 48 and not 49. Why? Because the 49th, or the 1st plane to be precise, is genuinely intergalactic and only primary matter exists there. Not even the “Guardians of the Galaxy” have access to that plane. Within our solar system are monads spanning six kingdoms of nature and three elemental kingdoms thrown into the bargain. The distance between an initiate focused in their 47:1 permanent atom and an adept, a 45-self, is as distant, consciously from us, as we are from a cabbage. How many meaningful conversations have you had with a cabbage? So here we have a channeller sitting in a circle telling their audience that they are in contact with an avatar from some distant star system; imagine which plane of consciousness they must be on and how many degrees of separation there must be between them and us. The channeller is in contact, if in contact they are at all, with a discarnate entity from the Emotional World. I hope you realise how diverse this contact can be by now. It may be human, but it may not be. It could be a mischievous nature spirit, a shade, a black magician, an artificially formed elemental or last but not least, an artificial human. Buyer beware!

The practices of trying to communicate with the Emotional World can be so dangerous that we are now going to discuss the concepts of Spiritualism in detail over the next two presentations. See you next time.
