Let’s explore the Mental World and its connection to the higher and lower realms, the Casual and the Emotional. The “Voice of the Silence” discusses the representation of our higher worlds through three Halls: the Hall of Ignorance, the Hall of Learning, and the Hall of Wisdom. It is believed that the Hall of Ignorance represents the physical plane, the Hall of Learning represents the emotional and lower mental planes, and the Hall of Wisdom signifies the higher mind or causal envelope and the Unity Plane (46). It is important to note that when we refer to the “higher mind,” we are not discussing our own minds but the solar deva. Currently, we are unconscious in our causal envelope unless we happen to walk on water and glow in the dark!
On the four lower levels of the mental plane, some degree of illusion is still possible, but the extent of this illusion depends on whether you are a young or old soul. It is better to arrive at a location where you know what to expect than to find yourself encased in a cocoon with no recollection of why you are there and what purpose is being served.
The Mental World (47:4-7) is still a realm of personality and error. Similar to the Emotional World, personal desires and foolishness are found on this plane, while pride and prejudice are prevalent in the Emotional World. We are what we are until we decide to change. In the Causal World, although the monad may not know everything, what it does know is accurate. However, the life of the causal envelope is not our main concern in this presentation.
The Mental and Casual planes have significant differences. In the mental plane, matter is dominant and is the first thing that strikes the eye. Consciousness has difficulty shining through the forms. On the causal or higher mental planes, life is prominent, and forms exist only to serve its purposes. The challenge on the lower plane is to express life in forms, whereas, on the higher plane, it is the reverse – to hold and give form to the abundance of life. Only above the line that separates the lower from the higher mental plane does the light of consciousness shine with its own power and is not impeded. Therefore, the symbol of spiritual fire is fitting for consciousness at the higher levels, as opposed to the lower planes, where the symbol of fire burning fuel is more appropriate.
When it comes to the emotional plane, we can describe its scenery to some extent. However, describing the mental plane is challenging because it doesn’t have any scenery except for what each individual creates through their thoughts. It’s important to note that when referring to “scenery,” we are not including other mental entities, many of which are objects of great beauty.
As a reminder, a thought-form, composed of rapidly vibrating particles of mental substance, generates vibrations in its environment, leading to sensations of sound and colour for those capable of perceiving them. A visitor to the mental plane can create a large shell around themselves, within which the thoughts or conversations of other entities cannot penetrate. By maintaining perfect stillness of mind, one can examine the conditions inside their shell.
In doing so, one can perceive a different series of regular pulsations, which may have been obscured by other artificial phenomena. These universal pulsations are impervious to human-made shells, devoid of colour or form, and flow with unwavering regularity through all the matter of the plane, resembling the inhalations and exhalations of a great breath.
These pulsations are differentiated by volume, period of vibration, and the harmony they create. Among them, there is a prominent wave, akin to the system’s heartbeat, originating from unknown centres on higher planes, infusing vitality into our world, and eventually receding back to its source. It undulates in one continuous curve, with a sound reminiscent of the sea’s murmur, accompanied by a triumphant chorus — the music of the spheres.
Once someone has heard this splendid natural song, they are unlikely to ever completely lose it. Even in the comparatively dreary physical world, they will always perceive it as an underlying tone.
If a person has achieved a certain level of spiritual development, it is possible for them to merge their consciousness with the upward sweep of a wave and allow it to carry them towards its source. However, this should not be done without the guidance of a Master who can draw the person back at the right moment. Without such guidance, the irresistible force of the wave could carry the person away to even higher planes, which their monad is not yet equipped to handle. They would lose consciousness with no certainty of when or where they would regain it. While the achievement of unity is the ultimate goal of human evolution, it must be reached with full consciousness, not slipping into a state of unconsciousness close to annihilation.
On the mental plane, a person can circle the world with the speed of thought. They can be on the other side of it as soon as they formulate the wish to be there because the response of mental matter to thought is immediate and can be readily controlled by the will.
On the mental plane, there is no concept of day and night, and no need for sleeping or waking, except before arrival to it and departure from it.
The Physical World is three-dimensional, the Emotional World is four-dimensional, and the Mental World is five-dimensional. However, as explained in the series “The Emotional Envelope,” it’s more accurate to say that consciousness on each plane can understand the world in the number of dimensions of that plane.
The three known forms of energy have their appropriate manifestations on every plane that we have yet reached. Therefore, Fohat, Prana, and Kundalini all exist on the mental plane, although little is currently known about the details of how they work.
A person who is fully conscious on the mental plane is able to perceive humanity as a whole. Every individual’s physical or emotional life also has a mental component. However, those who are secluded within their own thought spheres in their respective heavens cannot be considered true companions.
At the level of full consciousness on the mental plane, there is a much closer union between individuals than at lower levels. Deception is no longer possible as all mental processes are fully transparent to others. Opinions and impressions can be exchanged with the speed of thought and with perfect accuracy. Each individual receives the exact idea of the other immediately and without the need to decipher words.
On the emotional level, differences in language create a barrier to communication because thoughts need to be clearly expressed in words in order to be understood by others on that level. However, on the mental level, people can communicate directly through thought transfer, regardless of their language.
Space is no barrier, for a person can connect with another person just by directing their attention to them. The real barriers between people are due to differences in their evolution. Less evolved individuals can only understand as much about more evolved individuals as they are able to comprehend, and the limitations can only be felt by the more evolved, as the less evolved person has reached their maximum capacity.
Finding a person on the mental plane, whether they are alive or deceased, involves identifying the unique keynote of each of their vehicles, representing the average tone of their forces and qualities at different levels – etheric, emotional, mental, and causal. No two people have been found with identical keynotes at all levels, making each person’s chord unique and constant, allowing for their location to be discerned at any time.
Even if a person is on a higher plane of existence within their causal envelope alone, their connection is retained because their permanent atoms are capable of emitting distinct sounds.
A skilled seer can sense the unique chord and align their own faculties precisely to its notes, emitting the sound by an act of will. This results in an immediate response from the sought-after person, lighting up their causal envelope like a flame and establishing a magnetic line of communication. The seer can use this line as a telescope or use it to send their consciousness racing at a speed faster than that of light to the other end.
It is believed that a person’s true name holds secret power, possibly explaining the tradition of keeping a person’s real name hidden to prevent magical influence.
It is believed that during each initiation, a person’s true name is changed. Each initiation signifies the official recognition and fulfilment of progress, through which the individual elevates themselves to a higher level. As a result, their chord must be sounded differently from that point forward, which could be confusing for your list of contacts on your phone. The name of this person should not be confused with the name of the Augoeides. The Augoeides or guardian angel, is the combination of the three principles of the monad – the vibrations of the Lower Spiritual (45), Unity (46), and Mental atoms (47). The chord is not actually heard or seen; it is perceived through complex consciousness, involving the causal envelope and lower vehicles simultaneously.
Every individual pronounces their own true name, just as they have their own unique odour that can be sensed by a bloodhound sent to track them. Similarly, they have their own spiritual sound. Those who can perceive this sound in the inner world can discern their position on the ladder of evolution and understand their capabilities. Freemasons will recognise this sound as the individual’s own ‘knock’ or ‘report’, made by the inner self, which opens the way into the true Lodge.
The Augoeides, also known as the glorified person, refers to the three higher principles of a person, as already mentioned: Atma, Buddhi, and Manas, which together form the representation of the monad in the causal envelope. This concept represents the essence of the best qualities from a person’s past experiences and vehicles. As a person gains experience, the causal envelope more accurately represents the ideal qualities that the divine blueprint for Humanity intends for the individual. From the vehicle, one can see not only the person’s past but also their potential future.
In the following presentation, we will look at the Akashic Records and what they signify.
