AM-102 LAURENCY

In our Adventures as a monad, we have been using as our framework, a scaffolding provided by the Greek philosopher Pythagoras. This system of Hylozoics has filtered out in the writing of a number of philosophers and scientific thinkers, but it was only with the publication’s of the works of Henry T. Laurency, that we got the first comprehensive glimpse of this systematisation of our Universe. So, today, I wish to look at Laurency himself, who he was and what he tried to achieve. If Laurency was alive today, he would consider this exercise ‘deplorable’. That was one of his favourite terms. In defence of this presentation, we can justify our actions by saying that we are reporting nothing that Laurency has not told us himself.

When we are presented with any information, one of the first questions that ring out in our minds is “how authentic is this information”? Why should we trust what this person is saying? There are two answers to this, the first is given by Buddha, who tells us not to accept anything that does not synchronise with our own common sense. The second is given by Laurency, who tells us to apply any information given to the world around us and see if it has answers to the questions being asked of it.

Why do we need a system of thought in the first place? Laurency answers that by tells us that Humanity is unable to know anything of value by discovering it themselves. All knowledge is given to us. This has been touched on briefly in previous presentations, relating to the knowledge shared by the 5th Kingdom of Nature and how it is translated through the Causal to the Mental Plane. Laurency states, that if you think otherwise, you are a victim of your own ignorance. There are many who fantasise about possessing Cosmic Consciousness. All that can be said about that is ‘dream on’.

Laurency tells us that his last incarnation was his seventh as an esoteric philosopher. What can we glean from this? First, he knows about his previous incarnations. To do that you have to be causally conscious. The second thing is that Laurency has told us that it takes seven incarnations to completely master something, the example he gives is that of the musical prodigy, Mozart. So we can infer from this statement that Laurency has mastered his subject matter.

One of the frustrating things about any incarnation is that you spend a good amount of it trying to work your way up to the consciousness level you had attained previously, so that you can continue to advance your knowledge and experience acquired in this incarnation. Laurency tells us that he possessed latent knowledge about Hylozoics because he has been exposed to this knowledge system previously. However, to resuscitate this knowledge he needed to embark on a series of studies into the general field of esoteric thought. Being previously exposed to Hylozoics did not mean that he possessed a mental system of it, latently. This he had to work up and devise a World view that would be acceptable as a working hypothesis to scientists and philosophers. He was trying to knit together a philosophy that was based on facts rather than just abstract thought. Any mental system that was formulated, had to afford the student a vision of reality that would liberate them from the ruling illusions and fictions of the day. Note the use of the words ‘illusions’ and ‘fiction’. Illusions refer to the Emotional Plane, where we create our own fantasies out of Secondary Matter. Fiction refers to a subjective world we create for ourselves on the Mental Plane, based on our own preconceived ideas. It was Laurency’s objective to give to Humanity, a World view and a Life view that accorded with reality. Alas, when he published his first two works, the first being the The Philosophers Stone, his contemporaries gave these works the silent treatment.

Laurency lets us know that he attended Uppsala University. At this time he tells us that he was a mental self. This means his monad was focused in the 47:4 permanent mental molecule and he would have had good control over his emotional envelope. I wish we all had! Because he did not have access to causal knowledge at this time, he had to formulate his presentation of the Hylozoic system methodically and systematically. The Theosophical Society’s published works were a major resource and Laurency found that it was the works of Charles Leadbetter that resonated with him the most. They allowed him to formulate an esoteric mental system in the Philosopher’s Stone. This led, at a later date, to the presentation of Pythagorean Hylozoics in the Knowledge of Reality. Laurency does tell us that Leadbetter’s presentations were not entirely satisfactory and he had to fill in the gaps by studying A Treatise on Cosmic Fire, by 45-Self the Master D.K. Remember him? He is the Secretary to the Hierarchy. All esoteric knowledge from the Hierarchy is channelled through him to us. It is interesting to note that Laurency published his first work and later received confirmation that the theories he had put forwards, were in agreement with the planetary Hierarchy, on the fundamentals of existence. This happened in the form of three published letters from the 44-Self, Master H (5th Department) and 45-Self D.K. (2nd Department).

So, we can say that Laurency spent his time collecting facts and axioms and set about systematising them. He did this by purging texts of misleading terms, misinterpreted symbols and what Laurency amusing called ‘all manner of fictions’ that the authors let slip into their texts when they added their own suppositions. The net result was that facts that were wrong, were placed in the correct context and presented in the simplest manner. The manner used was an exact mental formulation, allowing students to assimilate these facts and axioms. Laurency considered a firm foundation of knowledge, an essential prerequisite to gaining an understanding of the Laws of Reality and of Life. For him, Hylozoics was this firm foundation. He realised that before he could help anyone else, he had to work out a viable mental system for himself. He acknowledges that the self’s demand for clarity for itself can be classified as an egotistical endeavour. But the formulation of mental systems was a habit developed by Laurency in previous incarnations. He started carrying on from where he left off. In this incarnation, he was driven by a desire to enable his target audience to have a clear and exact concept of the three aspects of existence. You should know those by now. He also wanted to convey the most basic facts about our Universe and the meaning and goal of existence. He has vowed to carry on this endeavour in future incarnations until Humanity accepts Hylozoics as a working hypothesis. So another thing we know about Laurency is that he is a very patient and optimistic person!

Now back to the deplorable situation we find ourselves in, discussing Laurency at all! He wrote anonymously, being adamant that his private life was his own. He also stated that he did not allow himself to bring forwards, in his works, any of his personal assumptions or suppositions. He states that the facts and ideas he presents were not his own. What he can claim for himself is the formulation of those facts and ideas. He has said that what he writes is not dictated to him, as was the case with Alice Bailey, but he is not prepared to tell us how he receives this information. It is pretty clear from the formation of his sentences that he achieved causal consciousness in his lifetime. If this is the case, information would have been received either intuitively or through inspiration. His task would then be to unpack the information presented in a geometric shape and present it in a mentally focused manner.

So, how can we describe the works of Laurency? They contain the cultural ideas of Humanity in a concentrated form. The purpose of these works is to present the ideas contained within the Hylozoic system, starting from the basic concepts of natural research. To afford us a logical conception of reality and life, esoteric symbols were consistently removed. Only esoteric facts have been used, ensuring that there are no conflicts against the basic esoteric conceptions of existence. The result was a simplified picture of the workings of our Universe and how we go about developing our consciousness. The intended result of studying Hylozoics is to facilitate the development of mental consciousness, by making the student reflect on what they are reading.

When considering what Laurency was able to get across to us, when it comes to the concepts of Reality, he gave us a brief account of the atomic structure of the Universe and clarified the Trinity, of Matter, Motion and Consciousness. This gives the student a very good grounding to understand the knowledge of reality. This was the first time this had happened in literature and in my opinion, is the single most important key any student of esoterics can possess. When it came to the Meaning of Life, Laurency told us that Laws govern everything. They are not arbitrary and there can be no deviation from them. Central to this was the existence of the Primordial Atom, known as the Monad, which evolved through six Natural and six Cosmic kingdoms. We were also informed of the existence of the Planetary Hierarchy and Governments, as well as the Solar Systemic Government. Laurency asserts, with some justification in my opinion, that Hylozoics is superior to the ruling systems in philosophy, science, Theosophy, Anthroposophy, Rosicrucianism and yoga philosophy. He also states that the system he brought forward, could not be formed without the facts that 45-Self D.K. had publicised, through the works of Alice Bailey. Hylozoics does not supersede Bailey’s work. It makes it more understandable, as these works are written for a more advanced audience. If you think that audience is you, I presume you can also walk on water, because that is as advanced as you have to be before you get what D.K is going on about.

Well, I hope that has given you a clearer picture of the monad we owe so much to, in our own pursuit of the Meaning of Life and our place in the Universe.
