There are a number of ways to model the relationship between your envelopes of incarnation. One that is used often, is to nest the envelopes, Russian Doll fashion. The other is to display them vertically. In this diagram, you see both modes of presentation. Visualising one envelope inside another is accurate because when each envelope is formed, there is a sequence of events that start with the highest envelope that a monad is functioning in when it resides in the 4th Kingdom of Nature. We currently function on three planes of matter, 47 to 49. However, plane 47 is split between two triads and therefore can legitimately be considered two envelopes. Plane 49 is also split between a physical organism, 49:5 to 49:7 and an etheric envelope, 49:1 to 49:4. The significance of these divisions has already been discussed. What I wish to talk about today is how these envelopes get built out. Once the sequence is viewed, the student gets a clearer understanding of what exactly constitutes a human being at this current level of evolution.
We finished our journey through the ascending envelopes of incarnation and ended up at the causal envelope. This seems to make sense as the appearance is one of evolution, going from lower to the higher levels of consciousness, matter refinement and energy projection. However, when you examine where the journey of the monad in the 4th Kingdom starts, it is from the one envelope that is a permanent structure. That envelope is the causal body.
No matter where the monad is, or at what stage of its development, from a primary atom to a quaternary atom, it is, was and always will be immortal. It effectively has no beginning. What changes over time in the Universe, is how conscious that monad is. The addition of a causal envelope, right at the start of our evolution through the Human Kingdom, meant that we has a permanent home in which to store our memories. So, how are these memories stored? They have to be stored in structures that themselves have a memory. This excludes primary atoms, as they are unconscious and it excludes secondary atoms, as they are only passively conscious and need a constant conscious input of energy to get them to do anything. It is when you get to tertiary matter that you start to have possibilities. This matter is not only conscious but self-activating to a limited degree. They still need to be programmed to do a task but when this happens, they faithfully carry out that task. So if a tertiary atom or molecule is programmed to hold a memory, there it will remain until greater forces change the dynamic around it.
This brings us to the permanent atom or molecule. As a Human, we have four such structures, 49:1, 48:1, 47:4 and 47:1. The designation ‘permanent’ in the name gives a clue as to what role such structures serve. When a monad is focused into one of these structures, it is objectively conscious in one of the subplanes in that envelope and all subplanes below it. It is also subjectively conscious, halfway into the planes of matter above itself. Any goings-on that resonates through any of the secondary or tertiary matter on any of these planes, is recorded in these permanent atoms or molecules. This means there is a complete record of every thought or deed that a quaternary monad experiences, right from the time it enters the 1st, the Mineral Kingdom. That is a sobering thought and one that defies our ability to imagine how many terabytes of information storage must be involved.
We have reviewed how we have come to have three permanent atoms and one permanent molecule and how they were slowly activated, as we passed through the three lower kingdoms of Nature. We now realise that they are stored permanently, in our causal body. That is all well and good, but to evolve, we need to return to the material plane, 49, so that we can test our knowledge in the heat of battle. These battles can only be fought on subplanes 49:5 to 49:7, i.e, down here. How does the monad get to these three subplanes? We have talked about the moment of conception when a sperm meets an egg and a signal is sent out to let the solar devas know that there is a vacancy on the planet. If you look at the diagram, you have the monad sleeping in its causal body. It is residing in one of the three atomic and one molecular structure found there. The sack around it is the causal envelope. On the etheric plane, you see a golden circle. This is the etheric blueprint that is about to become a baby. This template gets modified, as soon as the devas that control its development, are told by the Lords of Karma and the Agents of Destiny, exactly what attributes are allowed to develop in this foetus.
In the next column, an incarnation begins for a specific monad. How this monad is chosen, has already been discussed. Two parallel developments now ensue. From the causal end, about 5 per cent of the total causal matter, accumulated by a monad over its previous incarnations, is split off by the guardian angel. It is these attributes it wishes the monad to work on and refine in the forthcoming incarnation. The causal envelope starts to extend into the Mental plane. It does not enter the plane but it begins to surround mental matter on that plane. Into this newly forming envelope, known as the Lower Causal Envelope, we see that one permanent molecule and two permanent atoms have descended from the Higher Causal Body. At the same time, the etheric template, on the physical-etheric plane has formed a shell around itself called the foetus and the physical body, 49:5 to 49:7, has started to form. This is an independent structure and as of yet, has no connection to the developing envelopes above it. The only link there is can be found in the aberrations to the blueprint of this foetus that have been determined by the karma and destiny, of the soon to be ensouled monad.
In the third column, the formation of the mental body begins. This occurs within the envelope of the lower causal body. A 1st-Self is defined as a monad that is encased within a causal body. This is vital, as this is the only part of the, soon to be, enfolding story that is going to remain at the end of the incarnation. The two permanent atoms and one permanent molecule also remain. These three atoms/molecules need to be housed in a structure that itself is permanent. The permanent mental molecule housed within the lower causal body activates and begins to draw into its secondary matter. This matter resonates with the traits and habits that are stored within the memory structure of this permanent molecule. Not all these traits are activated, only those that themselves resonate with the five per cent of causal matter that has descended with the lower causal body. So, you can see in the diagram that the mental body expands. It currently contains within it the two lower permanent atoms. They reside with the permanent molecule in the mental body. Again, looking at the bottom of the column, the etheric blueprint and the physical foetus are merrily subdividing away.
We now come to the formation of the emotional body. Within the mental envelope, you see the appearance of a green sack. This is the emotional body forming. Within this envelope, you see two red dots. One is the emotional atom, 48:1, the other is the physical atom, 49:1. Surrounding the emotional body is the mental body. The hierarchical nature of these envelopes to one another can clearly be seen. Surrounding both the emotional and mental envelopes is the lower causal envelope. The foetus, with its attendant etheric envelope, is still happily developing.
The last principle body of our monad is starting to form now. This is an etheric body. It is the same colour as the etheric body surrounding the foetus. Notice one major difference. The etheric-physical envelope surrounding the foetus has no permanent atomic or molecular structure. This should put paid to the arguments that the anti-abortionists espouse regarding whether a foetus is a living soul or not. You can see clearly from this diagram, it is not. It is just a collection of material cells that have been grown through natural biological processes, under the direction of specialised devas in change of such processes.
We are now coming to the main event on the calendar. The monad in its four principal bodies is about to attach itself to the fully developed foetus. What happens next will be the topic of the next presentation.
