AM-157 IDENTIFICATION & LIBERATION (4)

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

We have had a comprehensive look at the concepts of identification and liberation and how these terms are experienced in practice. Let us now look at the liberation of Humanity as a whole. If consciousness is functioning as it should, there should be a steady march towards the processes of expansion. This has often been described as a process of liberation from limitations. The occult view of this is that our spirit is trapped in a prison. This negative view of a monad’s evolution negates the value of evolving through matter, as it is constituted in the 1st Triad. There is no other way to evolve, so rather than seeing it as a prison, just see it as a suit of armour that needs to be worn into battle, but there is the opportunity to remove this armour once you decide that fighting battles are not the only course of action. We have to accept that there will always be limitations. We exist in force fields that limit our range of action. It is through consciousness development that we come to see the limitations that these restrictions impose and we seek ways to move our game forward.

All monads found in the lower kingdoms, mineral, plant and animal, have their own fields of restrictions. If you were to take the entire consciousness of the Universe, these lower kingdoms have a very small share of that consciousness. It, therefore, is incumbent on more highly evolved monads to serve the cause of universal evolution by helping facilitate the widening of consciousness in these lower kingdoms, so that they might evolve into higher kingdoms. Humanity, without knowing it is facilitating this process already. We treat and transform minerals and we breed and refine plants and animals. The very fact that we focus our thoughts on such processes, helps stimulate nascent mental consciousness development in these monads. Currently, we transform our environment just to suit our purposes. In the future, we will work in a purposeful manner to help liberate these monads from their current fields of restrictions.

We can now see that through service, in an esoteric sense, we help Humanity liberate itself from its confinement, from a consciousness perspective. If Humanity has views that they attach themselves to, and these are restricting their evolution, then the process of opening up new vistas, is a process of liberation. Caution and judgment must be exercised when introducing new concepts to Humanity in groups or generally. If those ideas are not capable of assimilation, then harm can be done. Laurency points out that this is a mistake often made by apostles of “freedom”. “They preach ideals of freedom, which in the case of monads at the lower stages, 1 and 2, of development, can lead to expressions of lawlessness, self-will, arbitrariness and ruthlessness.” You can not have freedom without laws. This would be a recipe for disaster for the individual, as well as Humanity as a whole. The concepts promulgated by anarchists failed to take into consideration the balance of repulsive and attractive tendencies within Humanity. We can only be granted freedom when we identify ourselves with the law, specifically, the Law of Freedom, which states that we are free to do what we want, as long as we do not impinge on the freedoms of others in the process.

Apparently, the Hierarchy debated long and hard which model of human evolution to adopt. They could have gone down the road of letting us meander our way through millions of years of evolution, till the bulk of us had attained causal consciousness. The second option was that of efficient and effective education. At the insistence of those monads, who had passed from the 4th to the 5th Kingdom in recent centuries, it was decided to opt for the education model. The net result of this is that we have experienced two world wars and are being menaced by a third. We are given a stark choice. Either we listen to the voice of reason or we go down the path of aggravated suffering. The choice is ours and ours alone. We have been gifted everything we need to understand the concepts of reality and life as well. In the publications that appeared in the 19th century, especially The Secret Doctrine, we were given knowledge of the meaning of life and how we were to reach the 5th Kingdom of Nature. We have to refocus our attention away from the material, with all its distractions, towards mental development.

With the release of 1st Ray energy by Sanat Kumara at the turn of the last century, it is fair to say that all hell broke loose, two world wars being good examples of this. Esotericians have little alternative than to view these energetic actions as being the only rational ones on offer. We are growing more and more materialistic. We are being trapped in matter, rather than using it as a platform to higher realms. We have abandoned common sense for ill-founded ideologies. The Hierarchy has decided to start to bar certain cul-de-sacs that we seem determined to walk ourselves into. What is the alternative? Are we to be drowned for the third time?

On a more positive note, let us look at liberation and discipleship. As an esoterician, you learn not to cling to anything when its time is up for liberation. Think of it as fate seems to intervene in such a way that there are no alternatives on offer. We very seldomly decide when the lesson is over. When it comes to matter and where it stands in our lives, the eastern philosophies, such as those taught by yogis, called everything material illusions. Their model of development was to renounce the material world. They were misguided in this philosophy since all matter is based in reality as all of reality encompasses matter. Humanity is functioning in the 1st Triad so that it masters this reality, not pretend it does not exist.

What is our objective in the 4th Kingdom of Nature, dwelling as we do on the 1st triad in our Solar System? We have to learn to liberate ourselves from the needs of our animal bodies. This is not a principal envelope, and even if it was, we still, eventually, have to jettison it. Our emotional envelope is a principle but we still need to lessen our dependence on it, along with our reliance on our mental processes. Achieving this is not going to be easy, but when we do, we liberate ourselves to dwell, consciously, in our causal envelopes. It does not stop there because the monad is eventually liberated from this envelope as well and the process continues on 46 higher planes of matter.

These liberations do not occur until the monad has satisfied all the requirements of learning that their current envelopes are there to teach them. Call this life’s experiences. Once the lessons are learnt, then the envelope becomes an obstacle to further consciousness expansion. The job of the esoteric educator is to review the disciple’s stage of development and determine when they are ready for liberation from any concept or envelope. It is counterproductive if this process is rushed and it should never be forced.

The most carefully judged liberation is that from the emotional envelope. Those that are still firmly focused on their emotions, associate their feelings with what it means to be alive. Remove this connection and you have a very disgruntled persona. Patients and judgment are needed to determine when the persona has swung the pendulum of attraction and repulsion in favour of attraction. By the same token, the disciple must not be taught to liberate themselves from intellectual speculation before sufficient mental powers have been developed. Laurency tells us that it is a great mistake to hold the “lower” in contempt before it has been mastered and rendered superfluous. When you long for libation, then the time is up and not before this time. This longing must not be fostered from without. Needless to say, it takes a seriously large number of incarnations before the monad has learnt all there is to know in its lowest two envelopes. Incarnations continue, many, many more, in the 3rd and 4th envelopes, before the monad is truly liberated from the fantasies and fictions of the 1st triad.

Let us leave it there and pick up in the next presentation with the struggles that esotericians have, as they seek to liberate themselves from their mental consciousness.
